The Wildscapes

Galleries that strive to capture the true essence of our wild places.

Early March and it's Snowdrop time. Here are a few shots taken at my favourite Snowdrop location, a stone's throw from Morecambe Bay. Looking like 'glass tears' in the words of a friend, the flowers glowed pure white in the late winter sun. snowdrop

A visit to the wonderful island of Colonsay with a small group of friends gave me the opportunity to capture many special images of which these rocks are amongst my favourites

Kingley Wood was a complete surprise to me. I never expected to find a grove of 7,000 year old yew trees and was delighted to stumble upon them.

Jenny Brown's Point and Jack Scout are two wild places on the Silverdale peninsula. Landscapes that have resisted man's attempts to take the bay. Not really typical shots here, but they portray the spirit of Silverdale for me.

Following the Scottish Nature Photographers Fair I drove up to Rannoch and spent the night in my landrover. These are some of the images taken in and around this raw wild place. The effect is from Lightroom and is derived from the old Cyanotype process

Occasionally an aspect of nature can take on a whole new meaning. This mossy sycamore tree, glowing from the heart of a conifer plantation has become such a being. There's a strong sense of spirit here.

This video clip was made as an experiment into using moving images for meditation and nature connection. I'd like to know what you think. This particular piece is rather abstract and experimenta. Perhaps it's best to allow it to download fully before hitting the play button.
