me

I've had a passion for photography since early childhood, been professional for over 20 years and in this time have developed an intense love of nature and all things Earth. Although I shoot a range of subjects it's the wild places that count for me. These are the places that touch my soul and set my spirit free. As I engage with nature through my lens I deepen into the essence of what is around me and do my utmost to portray this spirit of nature through my shots.jason smalley

I live on the edge of the West Pennine Moors in Northern England, and enjoy the opportunity to wander the hills and valleys, often with my hound Tommy, searching for images and inspiration. Currently I'm exploring how best to photograph the natural healing of Flower Essences, working with Jackie Stewart of Flowerspirit, a dedicated and highly respected consultant.

the wildscape vision

The Wildscape site has been in hibernation for a while. I couldn't quite put my finger on what I needed to do with it. But now the vision is clearing and I see the path of Wildscape unfolding before me. I see the site being a source of fine images that can be enjoyed as art, postcards, as stock shots for publication and much more.jason smalley

The gallery will grow as time permits, video will be added soon as will words from myself and other proponents of Wildness. Another major and exciting development will be the selection of Wildscape Workshops, look out for special launch offers and register your interest early! The resource category will connect viewers with wide ranging links and reading lists. If there's anything you think I'm missing please let me know by email.

wild

Wild is one of those words that conjours up different images and emotions depending on who we are and where we currently find ourselves. For me, wildness is a state of mind and is entirely natural in it's essence. A regular connection with nature feeds our mind, strengthens and clears our spirit and helps us to cope with the unnatural confinement that modern life imposes on us.jason smalley

But there's much more to it than a simple need to wander the woods and meander along our riverbanks. Natural healing and holistic connections with Wild are becoming much more relevant as we rediscover the need to honour and nurture our soul and spirit just as our ancestors did, just as ancient tribes still do and just as we must if we are to find the peace and positivity we all desire and deserve.
